Interview with and expert on Violence. Gema Santamaría and Elzbieta Matynia

On September 25th, 2013 the  Transregional Center for Democratic Studies (TCDS) in cooperation with Global Studies, Janey Program in Latin American Studies, and the Observatory on Latin America (OLA) invited Anabel Hernández to present her book: Narcoland: The Mexican Drug Lords and Their Godfathers. In Narcoland, Anabel Hernández surveys the past 35 years of drug production and trafficking in Mexico. Specifically Anabel documents the Mexican government’s complicity with the major criminal organizations that supply the United States with the majority of its illegal narcotics. She also provides a detailed portrait of the most violent leaders currently running the cartels.

In conversation with the author, Gema Santamaria, PhD Candidate in Sociology and Historical Studies at NSSR published a poem in Public Seminar  titled: Interview with an expert on Violence.
