Pack your bags, New Schoolers, we’re heading east. On June 18, The New School officially opened a new satellite campus located in the heart of a leading global center—Shanghai. Sure to be a coveted educational hub for students looking to study abroad in an urban nexus of art, technology and economics, Parsons Shanghai will prepare students to work in real-world, international contexts and interact with their peers from all over the world.
Housed in the Shanghai International Fashion Education Center, the state-of-the-art facility will host a wide variety of New School activities, including workshops, seminars, and scholarly symposia; summer study abroad programs; programming for prospective students; exhibitions of student and alumni work; and a range of activities for alumni based in the region.
In addition to the existing Parsons Paris and Parsons Mumbai campuses, Parsons Shanghai further develops The New School’s growing global network and its commitment to offering students a broad, worldwide perspective.
“Parsons Shanghai provides our students, faculty, alumni and greater community with a crucial opportunity to promote new ideas and innovative design across nations and culture,” said New School President David E. Van Zandt, who was present for the opening.
