Two new books on development from econ dept

There are two new books to check out written by current and former faculty from our Economics Department: William Milberg, the new NSSR Dean, and Deepak Nayyar, former NSSR professor of Economics.

Dean Milberg’s, co-written with Deborah Winkler, is titled Outsourcing Economics: Global Value Chains in Capitalist Development. The work examines how outsourcing as a development tactic can increase inequality and does not always lead to improved employment or labor standards.

Prof. Nayyar’s book, out in November, is titled Catch Up: Developing Countries in the World Economy. His work traces the development of the global economy and examines the barriers that some countries face for development, and it examines why development has thus far been uneven.
