Cross Urban – a faculty exhibition in Paris

Parsons faculty member, Cynthia Lawson has, since 2008, been taking a weekly photograph of public space, in whatever city she happens to find herself. This, as part of Cross Urban, her collaborative art project with Paris-based photographer Klaus Fruchtnis, in which they take turns each week to pick a word at random from the dictionary and visually interpret its definition through a photograph. With 100 triptychs, taken in over 15 cities around the world, Lawson and Fruchtnis exhibited the project at the Colombian consulate in Paris, with a public space projection and reception at the Colombian Embassy. The event also served as the launch of a book with the triptychs and an essay by Colombian curator Estefanía Sokoloff.
