Faculty profile: Jasonpaul McCarthy


We are thrilled to announce that Jasonpaul McCarthy will be leading our Fashion Design area in Parsons Paris for the 2013-14 academic year. His titles: Fashion Designer, Professor, Thinker and Poet. Jasonpaul’s approach as an educator and practicing designer embraces and encourages new forms of fashion design processes, communication and the question of purpose. He completed his MA in Fashion Womenswear at the Prestigious Royal College of Art (RCA) in London and is recipient of the Bower Roebuck Tailoring Award. He has worked as a fashion designer across Europe, America and Asia and taught at the American Intercontinental University, University of East London, Savannah College of Art and Design at undergraduate and graduate levels across many areas of fashion including Fashion Design, Accessories, Marketing, Menswear, Womenswear and Fashion Futures. As a mentor he has worked alongside renowned designers such as Zac Posen, Catherine Malandrino, Chris Benz as well as Miss J from America’s Next Top Model. As an Assistant Professor of the BFA & AAS Fashion Design and AFM Fashion Marketing program at Parsons, he has been appointed member of the Parsons Festival Committee, BFA Coordinators Committee, EOY Committee, 560 Blog Committee and Parsons External Partnerships Committee overseeing and advising on projects, relationships and collaborations with multiple industry partners including CDFA, PPR, The Fancy, Milk studio, Fashion GPS and Indigital. He coordinated and curated the SOF 560 7th graduate exhibition and the collections for the Fashion Benefit 2012. Recently appointed Program Leader for the Parsons Paris BFA Fashion Design Program, Jasonpaul also serves as an editorial advisor and reviewer for Lawrence King Publishing and AVA Publishing.
