Public Talk: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Barbie

Tuesday, September 15th Parsons Paris presents Anne Monier, curator of the Department of Toys at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, who will present her upcoming exhibition on the iconic doll, Barbie.

Barbie and the museum – the reunion of these two words might come as a surprise. Why on earth would the most famous blonde in toy history come parading in the venerable Musée des Arts Décoratifs? Barbie is in many ways a reflection of our society, and deserves to be considered through the lens of the cultural and social history of the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibition will seek to provide the viewer with a large array of material pertaining to this iconic and controversial artefact, from her first appearance in 1959, in her famous striped bathsuit to today’s fashionista.

This event is free and open to the public. 6:30pm in room 301.
Parsons Paris is located at 45 Rue Saint Roch, 75001 Paris.
