Intros: SJC Members introduced themselves, including university affiliation, pronouns and areas of social justice interest and experiences
The bulk of the meeting was spent in dialogue with Special Guest, Maya Wiley (Asst. VP for Social Justice)
Maya Wiley, Henry Cohen Professor of Urban Policy and Management at the Milano School and Asst. VP of Social Justice, met with the SJC to discuss her new role at The New School, her background, and thoughts on Social Justice organizing.
Other Meeting items:
- Dialogue between new and returning members around bylaws, history, structure and logistical coordination of the committee
- Creation of rotating facilitation and note taking roles for next SJC meetings
- Decision to focus October meeting on priority setting and goals for 2016-2017
- Need for SJC Student Co-Chair – student work group to meet and decide Co-Chair internally (if needed will then go to vote to greater SJC)
