National School Walkout – March 14, 2018

To the New School community,

I understand that many students, faculty, and staff at The New School are planning to participate in tomorrow’s national walkout in memory of lives lost in Parkland, FL. I want you to know that the New School’s leadership respects and supports your choice to participate – to honor lives tragically lost, help a grieving nation heal, and publicly engage in the debate about an important national issue. Working to bring about meaningful change is central to who we are as a university. No member of The New School community will be penalized for missing class time or work time to be part of tomorrow’s event. Please be sure to communicate – with your teachers, classes, supervisors, and staff teams – so that plans are clear and obligations to each other and to completing our work are met. We applaud the positive and constructive participation in walkouts, demonstrations, or other peaceful protests taking place around the country and the many voices coming together to speak as one.
