Important Student Updates

Dear Students,

These past few weeks have presented us with challenging and rapidly changing circumstances. Many have been faced with tough financial, travel, and work related decisions as a result. I hope you are finding community and support in these difficult times.

I am heartened by the generosity, resilience and resourcefulness of the entire Lang community. It is inspiring to witness how students, faculty and staff support each other in our collective effort to transition to online learning for the rest of the semester.

There are ongoing updates, which you can always find on The New School homepage. Below I highlight a few and provide links to others.

Campus Access:

As of March 23 most campus buildings are closed until further notice. Building hours are posted on the buildings website.

Fall Registration:

Registration will now begin on April 6 and extend to June 13. On the prior Thursday and Friday, some students with medical accommodations or who have applied to graduate for this registration term will be able to register. The new student deposit deadline is June 15 and registration for incoming students will begin June 22 through July 31. Add/drop will open Monday Aug 3.

Dean’s Honor Symposium (DHS):

DHS will go forward, virtually, on April 6. We hope this event continues to serve, as it has in the past, as a gathering in celebration of the thoughtful, dedicated, and engaged students at the heart of Lang. RSVP for the online panels here.

Emergency Fund:

The New School’s Student Emergency Assistance Program provides currently enrolled students experiencing acute financial distress with one-time financial assistance. The Student Emergency Assistance Program cannot be used to cover tuition.

The Lang Dean’s Office remains committed to supporting you.
