Important Update on Student Emergency Fund

Dear Students,

I’m writing to update you on the distribution of aid awards from the enhanced Student Emergency Fund.

As I shared in my previous email, The New School has received $2.498 million dollars of federal CARES Act funding to support students in need who are U.S. citizens studying on campus. To reinforce our commitment to helping all students, the university has earmarked $1 million of university funds to help students who aren’t eligible to receive CARES Act funding. Together this funding comprises our enhanced Student Emergency Fund.

Applications for CARES Act funding for students who are U.S. citizens studying on campus must close today, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. The federal funds have been allocated. We will notify students when additional emergency funding is available.

University funds have not yet been exhausted, and students in need who are not eligible for CARES Act funds may still apply for awards of up to $750. This includes all students who are not U.S. citizens or who are online-only students.

We are committed to supporting our students through this extraordinarily difficult time and to helping those who are facing unanticipated challenges.
