Administrative Hubs Opening Friday, September 10th

A message from Lisa Bonner, Assistant Vice President for Business and Operations

Dear Colleagues,

We are so pleased to share that the first admin hubs located at 79 Fifth Avenue, 17th floor (D17) and 113 University Place, 6th floor (K06) will officially open to staff on Friday, September 10th at 8:30am.

The hubs are multipurpose spaces that include open collaboration areas, individual workstations, and meeting rooms. Please visit the new hub website to learn about available amenities, view floorplans, and to download the new reservation application Engage.

Starting today, all administrative staff have access to create reservations for the hub’s workstations and meeting rooms using Engage. Please double check that you are not making a reservation for Thursday before the hubs are open! While our primary goal is to provide a comfortable place to work for staff who do not have an assigned workspace on campus, these newly redesigned spaces are open to all administrative staff working on-site.

Remember: those planning to use the hubs must follow all testing and safety protocols outlined in The New School’s COVID-19 Community Guide, which includes submitting a PCR COVID-19 test taken within a week of arrival for your first time on campus, ongoing testing thereafter, and wearing a mask while inside our buildings. Your ID card will not unlock the hub doors if you are not in compliance with our vaccination and testing protocols so check your badge at the SHS Portal to make sure it’s green.

This will be an iterative process. The hub amenities and layout reflect input collected in the Staff Needs Assessment, and we will be testing a few types of technology and room configurations to see what works best for our community. If you use the hubs this fall, expect to receive a survey from us so we can continue to improve the services and amenities offered.

Finally, a huge thank you to the project team for pulling off this Herculean effort. Our incredible colleagues in Space Planning, Design+Construction, Facilities, and Information Technology have been working tirelessly to get these spaces up and running.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
