Messages to the Community

Mask Survey Open Through Friday, March 25

The university continues to evaluate adjustments to our campus health and safety protocols. As we have shared, our goal remains providing educational continuity and quality and cultivating opportunities for social connection, while also keeping our community healthy and safe.

With the evolving nature of the pandemic and public health policies and regulations, we strive for a healthy and appropriate balance between protection and connection of our campus community. A number of factors are central to these deliberations—notably public health guidancecampus data showing a high vaccination rate and low case rate, and the decisions of our peers and other institutions—all of which suggest that making masks optional in most indoor settings is feasible and safe for those who are up-to-date with their vaccinations. We also recognize the impact potential changes may have on our campus community. As such, we are deliberately choosing a different path from our peers to allow time and a process for community input. Community members must continue to wear masks in all indoor campus spaces.

Share Your Perspective

To help inform this decision, we want to hear your perspectives on how changes to the masking policy may affect our community and hope you will participate in this brief five-minute survey. The survey is completely anonymous and will be open through Friday, March 25.

Thank you in advance for providing your perspective and feedback in the survey. In early April, we will provide opportunities for University Senates and other stakeholder groups to review the results and share feedback before we communicate our plan for masks with the full community.
