Messages to the Community

Join the Expanded University Budget Committee for an Information Session on Gift Giving and Endowment Management

A Message from the Expanded University Budget Committee

Over the last few months, the Expanded University Budget Committee has met with many members of the community as we’ve collected initiatives and discussed how they can potentially contribute to the financial sustainability of the university. These conversations have emphasized a collective interest in gaining a deeper understanding of university finances, decision-making, and fundraising.

In an effort to create more opportunities for the community to learn and engage with these topics, we’ve partnered with the Financial Transparency Council (FTC) to co-sponsor a series of virtual information sessions covering a range of themes related to this work and featuring university experts to answer your questions. The series begins on Wednesday, May 10 with an informative discussion about gift-giving and philanthropy. A full line-up of sessions, including university operations, revenues & expenses, and real estate, will be announced in the fall.

Understanding The New School’s Finances: Gift Giving and Endowment Management
Wednesday, May 10, 2023 | 1:00-1:45pm

Register here to join the session.

In this interactive session, discover how the university raises money from individual donors and manages its endowment to respond to current and future financial needs. Following a brief introduction, community members will have an opportunity to ask Jonah Nigh, Senior VP of Development and Alumni Engagement, about the university’s current approach to gift-giving and endowment management.

The session will be recorded and posted on the Financial Transparency Council website and the university’s dedicated website.

If you have questions about the session or would like to suggest a topic for future sessions, please contact the Financial Transparency Council at ftc@newschool.edu.
