Spring 2024 Middle States Accreditation Site Visit and Presentation

A Message from Dr. Renée T. White, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

‌Next week, our campus welcomes representatives from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) to campus as the final part of our 8-year reaffirmation of accreditation. This follows the publication of our Self Study report, which you can read here

The visiting team from Middle States will hold a series of meetings with representatives from different bodies and offices across The New School. The Middle States team will also present their findings and take questions about the accreditation process at a forum open to the entire university community. The goal of these sessions is to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to share feedback on our compliance with and commitment to Middle States’ standards.

We hope that you will attend one of the sessions below to provide the Visiting Team with perspective and context, which they may not have received from reporting alone:

‌The visiting team will read its final recommendations regarding our compliance with Middle States’ standards and all community members are strongly urged to attend. Note that Middle States’ procedures demand that the Visiting Team not offer discussion after their read-out, and they are obligated to leave campus after their presentation.

‌Following these sessions, the findings by the Visiting Team will be delivered to the Middle States Commission for internal deliberation. They will provide a formal decision on our accreditation status in November 2024.

‌For questions or concerns regarding the visit, please contact Prisca Wood, Assistant Provost, Compliance and Accreditation.
