Our Preparations for Anticipated Demonstration Activity Across New York City
The university is aware that demonstrations are planned across New York City beginning this weekend. To ensure that our campus remains open and accessible to our students, faculty, and staff, we will be monitoring these activities closely.
We support our community’s right to peacefully protest and express themselves. At the same time, we want to remind everyone of the university’s codes, policies and protocols for our community standards. These policies do not permit harassment, intimidation, or hate speech; conduct that interferes unreasonably with the activities of other persons; or disruptions to teaching, learning and other university operations.
Should it become necessary, the university will implement the following temporary building access procedures at the University Center, 72 Fifth Avenue, 66 Fifth Avenue, 2 West 13th Street, 66 West 12th Street, 65 West 11th Street, and 55 West 13th Street:
- ID checks will occur outside these campus buildings.
- All persons entering these buildings will be required to show their face to match their ID photo.
- There may be times during the week when guests will not be permitted in the buildings listed above. This includes New School alumni.
- Faculty who have planned guests scheduled to be on campus to support courses and instructional activities should email campussafety@newschool.edu to arrange for building entry.
Ensuring that The New School is an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful community is part of our fundamental commitment to our students, faculty, and staff.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
