Middle States Summer Update
A Message from Prisca Wood, Assistant Provost, Compliance and Accreditation
After a year of work dedicated to advancing new and reinvigorated assessment practices and the systematic documentation of our resource allocation, we are pleased to report that we have successfully submitted our Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) monitoring report by the August 1 deadline. You are invited to review the report here. Note that links to supplemental evidence are not available in this public version.
We believe this report demonstrates The New School’s extraordinary collective efforts to showcase our adaptability and capacity for meaningful change and advancement. The success of this submission reflects the invaluable contributions of numerous faculty and staff members, whose dedication we hope will be recognized by our peer evaluators and MSCHE colleagues. But rather than an end, this is indeed the beginning, as we must continue to evolve a culture in which we engage in robust and regular assessment practices.
The next phase of our reaccreditation review involves an on-campus evaluation by a team of three peer reviewers on September 8 and 9. During their visit, the MSCHE team will meet with various campus constituencies. In particular, we encourage all community members to attend the open read-out on September 9, where the visiting team will verbally present its findings. Additional details regarding a specific time and location will be shared soon.
Following their campus visit, the evaluation team will submit their report to MSCHE. Both our monitoring report and the team’s assessment will be reviewed together, with MSCHE providing their final determination in late November.
We appreciate the continued engagement of our entire campus community throughout this process and look forward to supporting the long-term work to come.
