Update on Curricular Initiatives Submitted to the Expanded University Budget

A Message from the Expanded University Budget Committee

As follow up to ourMay 9 update on initiatives submitted to support the financial sustainability of the university, we wanted to provide additional information on the separate review process established for proposals related to academic programs.

The Expanded University Budget Committee routed all proposals that were related to academic programs (i.e. proposals for new degree programs, changes to curriculum, or new academic partnerships) to the the dean of the related college and/or Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) academic units to be reviewed and vetted in accordance with existing faculty and academic committee governance structures.

Once the college/CPE assessment is complete, initiatives recommended for advancement will move forward in the standard curriculum approval process, including review by the University Curriculum Committee. The University Curriculum Committee will share additional updates as their work continues.

The list of curricular initiatives can be viewed here. Please note that some of the initiatives on this list were also included on the one we shared with our May 9th update. They have been included again here because there is a curricular component to the initiative.

Thank you for all of the ideas and initiatives that were submitted as part of the ongoing effort to help strengthen the financial sustainability of the university. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Expanded University Budget Committee at universitybudcomm@newschool.edu.
