Parsons Festival Celebrates the Achievements of the Class of 2021
Parsons School of Design invites you to Parsons Festival, a virtual celebration of this year’s graduating artists, designers, filmmakers, illustrators, architects, and photographers. Featuring unique and cutting-edge thesis presentations and capstone projects, the festival’s virtual platform brings this work to a global audience and encourages repeat viewings and compelling ways to engage and interact with their work.
In addition to the online exhibition, passersby of the Parsons’ building at 2 W. 13th Street will be treated to a dynamic video installation of student work displayed in the windows on the building’s ground floor. The video installation was designed by Communication Design students who also designed the online festival portal.
“Our amazing 2021 graduates completed their studies at Parsons remotely, and for the second year in a row, we will showcase their thesis collections in a bold virtual exhibition,” says Rachel Schreiber, Executive Dean of Parsons School of Design. “The added bonus of the extraordinary work that they’ve created for this virtual festival is that it can be shared with an even larger and more geographically-diverse audience in the art and design community than ever before, and for a longer period of time. Despite the adversity presented by COVID-19, this festival embodies our students’ best qualities as designers, artists, strategists, and scholars who are committed to creative problem solving, critical thinking, and social justice.”
Graduates’ projects are also being featured by several community organizations. NYCxDesign is highlighting projects in its Student Spotlight, which showcases graduates’ work in a digital yearbook. LINKNYC is featuring several projects on its kiosks throughout the city, and select students are having their work displayed as part of the Emerging Designer Residency by NYCxDesign and Arts Thread, a three-month residency program at Hudson Yards.
