Parsons Scholars Alum Designs for Brooklyn Nets Star
Jahkill Rashad, a BFA Illustration student at Parsons School of Design and fledgling sneaker designer, fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams: To see athletes play in shoes that he had created. He saw his design on the hardwood of Barclays Center, when Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie wore Rashad’s “Brooklyn Sunrise & Sunset” custom-designed shoes during a game on March 30, 2019.This opportunity came to Rashad through his participation with the Parsons Scholars Program, a college access and preparation program for NYC public high school students interested in art and design. Now an alum of the program, Rashad was selected by Parsons Scholars director Nadia Williams when a graphic design company asked her to recommend someone talented and creative enough to design for Dinwiddie.
