Alan McGowan selected as Top Science and Technology Expert of the Year
Part-time faculty and former Environmental Studies Chair Alan McGowan was selected as Top Science and Technology Expert of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).
“With over 5 decades of professional experience as a noted Educator and Scientist, Mr. McGowan has certainly proven himself as an expert in the field.As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Mr. McGowan has demonstrated success not only as Chair of The New School’s Environmental Studies undergraduate program, but has demonstrated success in all his past positions.His impressive repertoire of prior roles and accomplishments include, Educator at Eugene Lang College, Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Science, he ran two nonprofits: The Scientists’ Institute for Public Information and The Gene Media Forum, which were created in order to try to improve public understanding of science by writing science stories in the mass media.Mr. McGowan also ran an environment education program for high school students and was involved in the National Earth Day Celebration every year since its inception. His areas of expertise are in social impact of science and technology, environmental justice, racial issues, impact of race on health, biological conception of race, and science and the environment.” Read more.
