The Robert L. Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies is pleased to invite doctoral and master’s candidates in any discipline at the New School for Social Research to apply for a fellowship to support dissertation or thesis research and writing during the 2019-2020 academic year. During the period of their fellowship, recipients will remain in residence, participate in Center programming, and collaborate with other fellows to organize a year-end symposium where they will present a paper. Students may apply for one semester of support ($3100) or two semesters of support ($6200).
Proposals of no more than 2 double-spaced pages should include:
- a narrative which explains the project’s engagement with capitalism as an analytic concept and/or as an object of social, political, or historical inquiry and critique.
- a timeline that identifies the work to be completed during the fellowship period
- a CV (of no more than 1 page) which identifies the names and contact information of thesis or dissertation committee members and the amount of any other awards or fellowships received for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Successful applications will propose projects that aim to 1) analyze and address real-world problems and 2) generate innovative conceptual work.
Please email your proposal by March 22, 2019 to Desiree LaVecchia, Executive Assistant to the Dean, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Questions can be addressed to Janet Roitman, Professor of Anthropology and Co-Director of the Heilbroner Center, RoitmanJ@newschool.edu.
