CONVERSATORIUM on UKRAINE: Transregional Dialogues – September 12th-16th, 2022

The Fall 2022 Transregional Dialogues Fellowship program will be launched by a Conversatorium on Ukrainea week-long series of five talks given by scholars and intellectuals whose work focuses on Ukraine.

The Conversatorium, to take place between September 12th-16th, 2022 will be open to the public and is organized in collaboration with the Borderlands Foundation, Poland.

Monday, September 12th at 10am (EDT): History and War: Putin’s Aggression against Ukraine and What the Past Has to Do with It – a talk by Yaroslav Hrytsak, Ukrainian historian and public intellectual; professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv, Ukraine). REGISTER HERE.

Wednesday, September 14th at 10am: (EDT): Ukraine: War as Experience and Meaning – a talk by Volodymyr Yermolenko, Ukrainian philosopher, journalist and writer. REGISTER HERE.

Thursday, September 15th at 10am (EDT): The Tasks of the Translator: On the Meaning of Bridges during a Time of War – a talk by Marci Shore, associate professor of history at Yale University and a regular visiting fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna. REGISTER HERE.

Friday, September 16th at 9am (EDT): Ukraine: Breathing the Air of War – a talk by Serhij Zhadan, Ukrainian poet and writer, translator, and performer. REGISTER HERE.

Friday, September 16th at 11am (EDT): A Secret Power: Normative Femininity as Source of Women’s Agency in Times of Extreme Violence – a talk by Oksana Kis, feminist historian and anthropologist, a Visiting Professor at the Anthropology Department, NSSR, and head of the Department of Social Anthropology at the Institute of Ethnology, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (in Lviv). REGISTER HERE.
