Agreement Reached with SHENS-UAW Local 7902, Student Health Employees
A Message from Sonya Williams, Vice President for Human Resources
In the late hours of November 29, The New School’s bargaining team and SHENS-UAW Local 7902, representing our Student Health Employees, reached a tentative agreement on a four year labor contract that is strong, equitable, and works for everyone. This agreement avoids any planned strike action by SHENS-UAW, and student health services will continue normally.
We are proud of this agreement, which offers our valued Student Health Employees a strong package of pay increases, benefit enhancements, and professional development support. Our Student Health Employees provide important healthcare services to our students, and their roles include therapists, counselors, nurses, social workers, and physicians.
The next step in the process is a vote on ratification of the Tentative Agreement by union members, a process that will take place over the next several weeks. We will continue to keep you updated on the university’s Union Negotiations website.
We want to thank the members of the university’s bargaining team for their dedication and relentless spirit throughout these negotiations, and are grateful to the union for their engagement and commitment to The New School.
