THE JEWS OF SUMMER: A Book Talk with Lang Alum and Historian Sandra Fox

Cover of the book, The Jews of Summer: 2 teenager campers lie on a bunk bed, one on the top bunk draping her arm down near the camper on the bottom bunk.

How did sleepaway camp become an integral part of American Jewish life? In this lecture, Sandra Fox (BA, History; Minor, Jewish Culture) explains how a sense of cultural crisis birthed a rite of passage  for Jewish children across the United States.

Sandra Fox is the Goldstein-Goren Visiting Assistant Professor of American Jewish History at New York University, and director of the Archive of the American Jewish Left in the Digital Age.
