Debuting in 2016, the Student and Emerging Filmmaker Competition lets filmmakers use cinematic storytelling to consider “what’s your civil right?” and how best to speak truth to power. Past winners have been nominated for an Academy Awards, shown their film Tribeca, and assumed high-profile broadcasting production roles. Cash prizes are awarded to eight documentary and narrative filmmakers, and honored films will be screened at our Festival this fall.
