Climate Science Advisor for the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice

The New York City Mayor’s Office is hiring a Climate Science Advisor for their Strategic Partnership team. This role includes working with the New York City Panel on Climate Change (NPCC) Co-Chairs and City policy and decision-makers to help strengthen civic engagement in climate assessment. Another important part of the job includes leading and managing the Climate Vulnerability, Impact, and Adaptation Analysis (VIA) combining scientific and local information on social and economic vulnerability, public health, and climate change in order to inform policy and action for communities most at-risk, and to understand a variety of mitigation and adaptation strategies. Policy Advisor for the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice

The Office of Urban Agriculture, a new branch of the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice, is hiring a Policy Advisor to assist in policy development, project/program management, and strategic visioning. They are looking for someone who is familiar with agriculture, food, climate/environmental justice, and has experience working with diverse communities. Policy analysis work will include researching and translating information to support policy development, and working with key stakeholders to develop new policies based in science, business, and environmental justice. Campaign Network Coordinator for Reclaim Finance

Reclaim Finance is a Paris-based NGO looking for a Campaign Network Coordinator that is passionate about decarbonizing the global finance realm. The job is a one year contract with potential to become permanent depending on what you bring to the team. Though they prefer someone who lives in Europe, they are willing to consider international applicants if you are a promising candidate. Your role would include coordinating with the Fossil Free Finance Campaign, which Reclaim Finance is a part of, in initiating, supporting, and coordinating joint campaigning on fossil fuel finance on the international level. If you are someone with a good understanding of climate, finance, and campaign strategies and tactics this contract job may be for you. Some of the work will also involve travel and virtual meetings that will accommodate partners and collaborators in various time zones, so keep that in mind. Internships at the Mayor’s Office

The Mayor’s Office Internship Program is taking applicants until Friday, March 24th. Interns will be assigned to the department that interests them most and that lines up with their academic/professional endeavors. Projects may include conducting research, attending meetings, managing incoming inquiries, analyzing data, drafting briefings, staffing events, assisting with outreach, and supporting special projects depending on the assigned department. There are also bi-weekly meetings that interns will attend to get a better understanding of the inner-workings of the city government and a service project that will impact communities in need in New York City.
