Drama Faculty Member Christopher Shinn is a Bad Boy,

New School for Drama playwriting faculty member Christopher Shinn will join playwright Adam Rapp in a panel discussion titled The Bad Boys of Off Broadway, on February 28 in the Jerry Orbach Theater in the Snapple Theater Center, 210 West 50th Street from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. TimeOut New York theater critic David Cote will moderate the discussion, which is sponsored by the Off-Broadway Alliance.

The conversation will focus on plays and playwrights whose work has regularly debuted in Off-Broadway theaters. Additional participants will be announced.

Shinn’s plays include Now or Later (shortlisted for the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play), Dying City (Pulitzer Prize finalist), Where Do We Live (OBIE in Playwriting), Four, What Didn’t Happen, On the Mountain, Other People, and The Coming World. His adaptation of Hedda Gabler premiered at the Roundabout and he has written short plays for Naked Angels and the 24 Hour Plays. His work has been premiered by Lincoln Center Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, Playwrights Horizons, the Vineyard Theatre, South Coast Rep, the Royal Court, and the Soho Theatre, and later produced around the world. His plays are published in collections from TCG and A&C Black. Shinn’s awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship in Playwriting and a grant from the NEA/TCG Residency Program.

Bad Boys of Off Broadway, is the first in a series of panel discussions sponsored by the Alliance that will focus on the culture, business, and history of Off-Broadway theater.
