Lang Students Tackle Tolstoy with La Mama Production Don’t Miss the Realm of Darkness March 4-7

This year marks the centennial of Leo Tolstoy’s death. In celebration of his life, the Theater program at Eugene Lang College invites you to see its new production of Tolstoy’s play The Realm of Darkness (1886). Featuring Eugene Lang College students, the play’s action moves from 19th-century Russia to present day small-town America where evil looms large, but reform and renewal are still possible.

The Realm of Darkness by Leo Tolstoy is translated by Marvin Kantor with Tanya Tulchinsky. Zishan Ugurlu designed and directed this production, and Inessa Medzhibovskaya acted as literary advisor. Both are faculty members of Lang College.

The production takes place at the La MaMa Ellen Stewart Theater, 66 E 4th Street (between 2nd Avenue and Bowery), on Thursday March 4, Friday March 5, and Saturday March 6 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday March 7 at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $5 and free to all students and New School faculty, staff, and alumni with ID. Tickets are available from The New School Box Office by calling 212.229.5488 or emailing boxoffice@newschool.edu.
