Breaking The Cycle Of Violence The Clothesline Project
Break the silence! In observance of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month New School students demonstrated their solidarity in condemning sexual violence against women by hand-painting T-shirts with slogans. The shirts are part of the Clothesline Project and will be exhibited throughout April in the lobby windows of the Parsons building, 66 Fifth Avenue; the Welcome Center, 72 Fifth Avenue; Arnhold Hall, 55 West 13th Street; and two other sites around campus. The T-shirts help to educate the community about sexual assault while empowering students, survivors, and allies to speak out and bear witness to the violence against women that affects all of us.
As part of this month’s activities, the New School community will participate in Take Back the Night, on Tuesday, April 13, which includes a march led by students, a candlelight vigil, and testimonials. Participants will meet in front of 6 East 16th Street at 7:30 p.m. For more information, email healthed@newschool.edu.
