Debut, Si! Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra Plays the Jazz Standard
On Tuesday, April 13th, at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., the New School Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra debuts at the Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th Street, under the direction of Bobby Sanabria with special guest Candido, a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master.
The New School Afro Cuban Orchestra features students and alumi Darren Denman, piano; Max Johnson, bass; Gabriel Katz, drums; Wylie Wynshaw, guitar; Peter Urgin, electric violin; Joseph Pramik-Holdaway, timbales; Alex Kirkpatrick, bongos; Adam Nash, congas; Casey Francis, and Matt Berman, alto saxophones; Dean Buck, and Pablo Moser, tenor saxophones; Elad Gilbert, baritone saxophone; Nash Guillermo, Donald Devienne, Ari Karason, Cameron Johnson, trumpets; Jason Disu, Joe Beaty, trombones. Michael Bafundo, trumpets, Victor Sawyer, and Colby Norton, trombones, also join the group for this special performance.
