Jazzing It In Bern Leading the Way at International Jazzfestival Bern

Twenty-five students from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music are performing this spring at the International Jazzfestival Bern in Bern, Switzerland. This is the school’s second year participating in the festival under exclusive invitation. New School Jazz students are the only students from an American university, making up a segment New York at the International Jazzfestival Bern.”

The groups, a mix of trios, quartets, and quintets, play for one-week each, April 6 through May 21, and are led by Jacob Sherman, Lukas Gabric, Sarah Elizabeth Charles, and Mike Rood, Steven Lugerner, Rotem Sivan, Melanie Charles, and Nitzan Gavrieli. The students are in a line-up that includes jazz greats McCoy Tyner, Jack DeJohnette, Diane Reeves, and others. For a full schedule visit the Jazzfestival Bern website.
