Mozart Called It the Perfect Opera Mannes to Perform Così Fan Tutte

The Mannes Opera, conducted by Joseph Colaneri, will perform a fully staged production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Cos√¨ fan tutte featuring two international casts of artists and accompanied by The Mannes Opera with The Mannes Orchestra. The opera will be performed in the original Italian at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, East 68th Street (between Park & Lexington Avenues) on Thursday, May 6 and Friday, May 7. Both performances are at 7:30 p.m. Among the cast for Cos√¨ will be Mannes undergraduate Nadine Sierra, a winner of the 2009 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, at age 20, the youngest winner in a generation, and Mannes graduate student Hyo Na Kim, a finalist in the 2010 Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions.

The Mannes Opera’s production of Cos√¨ fan tutte is dedicated to alum Julius Rudel, one of the world’s most renowned and admired conductors of opera. After graduating from Mannes in 1943, he joined the New York City Opera where he forged a legendary 35-year career. Rudel will accept the dedication in person at the May 6 opening performance.
