Pier Sixty Heats Up for Parsons Fashion Benefit
Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers rolled out the red carpet last night for Parsons The New School for Design’s Annual Fashion Benefit. This year’s honorees, Dr. William K. Fung, group managing director of Li & Fung Limited, and Vera Wang, celebrated designer, are both visionaries who have made significant contributions to the industry.
At the event, Dr. Fung’s honorary award was presented by Rick Darling, president of LF USA, and Candy Pratts Price, Style.com editor-in-chief presented Ms. Wang with her prestigious honor. Previous honorees have included Francisco Costa and Tom Murry of Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg, and Marc Jacobs.
A highlight of the annual benefit is a fashion show featuring the most notable collections designed by Parsons graduating students. The fashion show has helped launch the careers of some of Parsons’ most talented alumni, including Marc Jacobs ’84; Jack McCollough ’02 and Lazaro Hernandez ’02 of Proenza Schoulerf the CFDA 2009 Accessory Designer of the Year and the 2007 Womenswear Designer of the Year; and Doo-Ri Chung ’95.
