Craftsmanship Revisited Parsons and Lvmh Take Over Governors Island
This summer, Parsons The New School for Design and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Inc., will present The Art of Craftsmanship Revisited: New York, an exhibition on Governors Island celebrating the tradition of creativity and craftsmanship that has long inspired artists in dozens of media. The exhibition is the culmination of a project by the same name, which began in late 2009 bringing together more than 120 Parsons students and 23 master artisans from across New York City.
The exhibition will include original fashion ensembles and short documentary films created by the 23 Parsons teams and inspired by the work of their master artisan. The work, which was previewed at MAC/Milk Fashion Week in February 2009, will be presented in the historic homes of Nolan Park on Governors Island every weekend throughout the month of June, and is free and open to the public.
