Travis Winters Pushes Ahead Collaboration Proves Key
New School Drama playwright Nick Gandiello (’11) recently received two festival acknowledgements for his play Travis Winters. Earlier this year, at the Strawberry One-Act Play Festival, the play advanced to the semi-finals, with a production directed by Kathryn McHugh (Directing ’11) and featuring Christian Adam Jacobs (Acting ’10) and Genevieve Sirois (Acting ’11).
“We worked through a lot of obstacles together,, Gandiello said of the development process.
Travis Winters was then selected for the 16th Annual New York City 15 Minute Play Festival with McHugh again directing, this time Sarah Cook (Acting ’11) and Connor Carew (Acting ’09). The production was selected as the winner for Best Play, as well as Audience Favorite. McHugh received the Best Direction award, Carew was awarded Best Actor, and Cook earned a Best Actress honorable mention.
