A View from the New Republic 2010 President’s Forums Open with Senior Editor John B. Judis

This year’s President’s Forum series begins on Wednesday, September 22, with guest John B. Judis, senior editor of the New Republic. President Bob Kerrey will engage in a one-on-one discussion with Judis, whose articles and blogs offer shrewd insights into today’s top issues, trends, and political figures. Judis has written for the New Republic since 1984 and has been a senior editor since 1994. He has also been a contributing editor of GQ (where his attire was a constant source of amusement); a columnist for the American Prospect; and a founding editor, and Washington correspondent of In These Times. Years before that, he was a managing editor of Socialist Revolution (which, after the dust of New Left rebellion cleared, changed its name to Socialist Review) and the editor of East Bay Voice, a Bay Area alternative newspaper. Judis is the author of five books: William F. Buckley, Jr.: Patron Saint of the Conservatives; Grand Illusion: Critics and Champions of the American Century; The Paradox of American Democracy: Elites, Special Interests, and the Betrayal of Public Trust; The Emerging Democratic Majority (with Ruy Teixeira); and The Folly of Empire.

This President’s Forum will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Theresa Lang Community and Student Center, Arnhold Hall, 55 West 13th Street, 2nd floor. Admission is free, but space is limited; click here to register. For additional program information, please contact Stephen Kimmerling or Lindsey Jochets in the Office of the President at The New School.
