Candidates for New School Honorary Degrees

The New School expects to present six honorary degrees at its May 2011 commencement ceremonies. Nominations for Honorary Degree and University in Exile Award candidates are welcome and should be submitted no later than Friday, October 8, 2010.

Award recipients are accomplished in their field and are generally chosen from a discipline that represents the various schools and programs of the university. Honorary degrees will be awarded from the categories listed below. Candidates do not have to be graduates of The New School.

Categories:

  • The Arts: Classical Music, Jazz and Contemporary Music, Theater, Film, and Television
  • Writing, Visual Arts, Design, and Journalism
  • The Humanities and Social Sciences
  • The Natural Sciences
  • Public Life and Government
