Drama Presents Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

The New School for Drama presents William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Arin Arbus and featuring Drama’s third-year acting students. The play tells the story of four lovers who flee Athens to an enchanted wood, where their romantic squabbles and familiar conflicts are soon overshadowed by magical doings, in a hilarious romp proving that the course of true love never did run smooth., Arbus’ production will take on a darker tone, focusing more on the conflict between sexes. It will also incorporate original music.

Arbus is the associate artistic director at Theatre for a New Audience, a Drama League Directing Fellow, and a Princess Grace Award Recipient. Previously, she was a Playwrights Horizons Directing Resident, a Williamstown Workshop Directing Corps member, and a member of Soho Rep.’s Writer/Director Lab. She has directed at The Intiman Theatre, The Hangar Theatre, Theatre Outlet, FringeNYC, Storm Theatre, HERE Arts Center, Juilliard, and Williamstown Workshop.
