Drama Alum in Yale Repertory Theatre’s The Piano Lesson
Drama alumna Eisa Davis ’97 is making her Yale Repertory Theatre debut in August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Piano Lesson. She will play Berniece Charles, the owner of an ornately carved piano that she plans to pass along to her daughter. But her brother has another plan for the prized, hard-won heirloom: to sell it and use the money to buy the same Mississippi land that their family once worked as slaves. The play is the intimate story of a brother and sister and their struggle to embrace or deny their epic inheritance.
The production features original compositions and music direction by Davis, with fight direction by Drama faculty member Rick Sordelet. Directed by Liesl Tommy, The Piano Lesson runs January 28’February 19; opening night is Thursday, February 3. For more information, visit www.yalerep.org.
