Career Development Takes First Place at New York College Planning Awards
The staff of The New School’s Office of Career Development was awarded the Alva C. Cooper First Place Award for Best Practices by The Metropolitan New York College Career Planning Officers Association (MNYCCPOA) on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. The New School team submitted the practice entitled Boutique Programming, which focuses on employer and alumni panel discussion events and includes niche topics based on student input, creative marketing, and expansive, inter-university networking.
Nicole Wolfrath, associate director, and Jennifer Rupert, assistant director, presented the Boutique Programming, concept at the May 3rd meeting held at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. The presentation included a detailed description of events developed using this method, such as Bigger Than Hollywood: Working in Cinema for a Greater Purpose; Careers in International Law; Marketing With a Heart: Social Marketing and Advocacy Communications; and Careers to End Violence Against Women.
