Upset that the Knicks didn’t make it past the first round of the NBA Playoffs? Take heart: A new basketball power is rising in New York City (and no, it’s not the Nets). In its inaugural season, The New School’s intramural basketball team has held its own against rivals like Pratt and Cooper Union. Founded by Eugene Lang College student Alex Knapp, the team is one of the many offerings of The New School’s growing Office of Recreation and Intramural Sports, which over the 2010’2011 academic year has offered yoga, Pilates, soccer, rock climbing, bowling, biking, golfing, and more.
