Alumnus Filmmaker Tal Shamir Wins Student Academy Award
Alumnus Tal S. Shamir (Media Studies, ’10) was recently named winner of a Student Academy Award in the Alternative category for his film The Vermeers.
The Student Academy Awards is an annual competition for college and university filmmakers run by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the same Academy that awards the Oscars. As part of his winnings, Shamir will be flown to Los Angeles this month to receive his award in person. His film, which was selected as an outstanding thesis while at The New School, is currently featured on the homepage of the Academy site.
