Beginning with Beethoven: Summer Institutes Bring Forth the Season
A stirring array of classical and contemporary music institutes, festivals, and seminars is afoot this summer at Mannes College The New School for Music. These include The Eleventh Annual Mannes Beethoven Institute, June 5-12; The Institute and Festival for Contemporary Performance, June 13-23; The Eleventh Annual New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes, July 5-10; and The Thirteenth Annual International Keyboard Institute and Festival, July 17’31.
The Beethoven Institute explores the composer’s duo sonatas, piano trios, and string quartets in a week of intensive study. Participating faculty include pianists Yuri Kim, Julian Martin, Thomas Sauer, Ignat Solzhenitsyn; the Daedalus String Quartet, cellist Colin Carr; and violinist Soovin Kim.
Faculty concerts will take place on Monday, June 6 at 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, June 8 at 8:00 p.m. Participant concerts will take place on Saturday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 12 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
