Young Authors Heat Up The New School’s Summer Writers Colony
The New School’s Writing Program has long been the center of New York City’s hot literary scene. And just because the school year has ended doesn’t mean the writing action at our Greenwich Village campus has cooled. Through the month of June, The New School hosts its Summer Writers Colony, a series of in-depth workshops and literary salons featuring some of literature’s leading young voices.
Workshops focus on poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction, taught by Cate Marvin, Sharon Mesmer and Madge McKeithen, respectively. In addition, Writers Colony participants also enroll in a Summer Literary Salon. Each salon, which meets for three sessions, focuses on the work of a contemporary author who joins the salon’s final meeting for reading and discussion. Salons will examine the work of Lynn Emanuel, John D’Agata, Thomas Sayer Ellis, Nicole Krauss, Jonathan Dee, and Darin Strauss.
