Geologic City: Ellsworth and Kruse Publish Field Guide to City GeoArchitecture
Elizabeth Ellsworth, a faculty member in the Media Studies program who for the past two years was the university’s associate provost for Curriculum and Learning, and Jamie Kruse, a graduate of the MA program in Media Studies at The New School, have co-authored the recently released Geologic City: A Field Guide to the GeoArchitecture of New York. Structured as a field guide, Geologic City takes readers through 20 sites across the five boroughs, encouraging residents and visitors to interact with city architecture and infrastructure through the forces and flows of geologic material that give form to the built environment of the City.,
The book is a project of Smudge Studio, a collaboration between Ellsworth and Kruse. The 46-page guide was eagerly welcomed by the design community and received positive press on well-read sites like CoolHunting, and BLDGBlog.
The book recently became available to the general public via the Smudge Studio website. For more information, visit smudgestudio.org.
