Parsons Shows Off at Fashion Week

Fashion Week is in full swing, which means only one thing: Parsons in the spotlight. Parsons BFA Fashion Design students kicked off the semi-annual celebration of all things new and fashionable on Thursday, September 8, with a Fashion’s Night Out event at the Juicy Couture store, where they sketched the looks of fellow patrons.

The events continued on Sunday, September 11, at the Standard Hotel, where Simon Collins, Dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons, moderated a True Religion Denim Panel. Collins will continue his role as host on Thursday, September 15, with a panel on fashion and technology as part of MADE Fashion Week at MILK Studios.

It’s not only fashion designers getting in on the fun. A group of BFA Photography students have partnered with the W Hotel group, setting up shop at hotel lobbies across town, where they are spending the week documenting the comings and goings of fashionable New Yorkers.

And then, of course, there are the shows. As with every fashion week, new collections designed by many Parsons alumni can be seen on runways all over the city. This year, they include Jason Wu, Derek Lam, Peter Som, Anna Sui, Donna Karan, Ohne Titel, Rochambeau, Jen Kao, Richard Chai, Lela Rose, Tracy Reese, Yeohlee, J. Crew, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, and Elene Cassis.
