Parsons Gets Reassembled at Blu Dot

On Friday, December 16, Rama Chorpash, Director of Product Design at Parsons The New School for Design, Bill Morrish, Dean of the School of Constructed Environments at Parsons, and John Christakos, CEO and President of the acclaimed furniture design company Blu Dot, will host the final review and a cocktail reception for the Parsons Product Design Flat Pack Studio, led by faculty member Mark Bechtel.

In Flat Pack Studio, a course for juniors, students design a piece of furniture that will flat-pack to fit within the dimensions of a UPS box or tube. This includes the design and construction of a full-scale working furniture prototype, the packaging, and an assembly manual. Final projects are being shipped to Blu Dot SoHo, where they will be assembled and reviewed by a jury of critics that include designers Allan Wexler and Jeff Miller.

The review which is open to the public will take place at Blu Dot SoHo from 2:00-6:00 p.m., with the reception following from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
