Economist Lance Taylor Elected to Royal Norwegian Society

Since 1760, the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters has provided institutional support for a collection of the world’s most influential naturalists, social scientists and authors. On New Year’s Day, 2012, The New School for Social Research’s Lance Taylor joined their ranks as a Foreign Member of the Societies Academy’s Humanities Class.

Taylor, who serves as Arnhold Professor of International Cooperation and Development in the Economics Department, is the author of Maynard’s Revenge: The Collapse of Free Market Macroeconomics, a study that suggests the roots of the recent economic crisis lie in the abandonment of Keynesian economic theory. One of the leading voices for progressive economics, Taylor is helping to shape a new generation of heterodox thinkers who are challenging free market and supply-side theory.

Taylor’s membership in the Royal Norwegian Society will give him special access to the group’s meetings and conferences, and enable him to share his research with leading thinkers from across the globe.
