Executive Dean Scobey Speaks on Higher Ed’s Role in NYC
On Thursday, February 24, The New School for Public Engagement Executive Dean David Scobey joined New York City’s academic and political leaders for the City & State’s annual State of Our City conference. Speaking on the Higher Education panel, Scobey addressed issues of financing education and partnerships between public and private institutions of higher learning. He was joined by Josh Thomases, deputy chief academic officer at the NYC Department of Education and John Mogulescu, senior university dean for academic affairs and dean of the school of professional studies at CUNY.
Scobey, who has worked for decades to develop the links between colleges, universities and communities, has lent his voice many times to the national conversation about higher education’s role. Earlier this year he joined a White House panel on higher education and civic engagement as part of an American Association of Colleges & Universities committee on the future of university learning.
