Stars of Today: Mannes and Jazz Students Perform Throughout NYC
New York in the summer is alive with musical entertainment. And across Manhattan, free performances by The New School’s jazz and classical students have become something of a summer tradition.
Starting in June, students from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music can be found performing in the lunchtime music series Jazz in the Square taking place every Tuesday from June 12 through August 7 at 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. in the West Side Seating Area of Union Square Park.
While students from Mannes College The New School for Music can be found performing every Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Morgan Library & Museum, 225 Madison Avenue, in Gilbert Court right across from the Morgan Cafâ©.
But that’s just the beginning. The university’s two music divisions are featured exclusively at the Hudson River Park’s Stars of Tomorrow music series.
Alternating between performances by combos from New School Jazz and chamber ensembles from Mannes College, the free concerts will showcase a wide array of the university’s musical offerings. All performances start at 6:30, and take place at Pier 45 at Christopher Street. Read on for a full schedule of performances, and see you where the music is!
